Another milestone

Tonight Molly went pee-pee in the potty for the first time. Yaaayyy, Molly! It was pretty cute. We've had her potty for a few months now, and she enjoys sitting on it fully clothed while we go to the bathroom. Just recently have I actually started taking her diaper off every now and then to let her sit on it. Tonight before her bath, we gave it another shot. She always gets pretty restless while sitting there, so after about 5 minutes, I told her she was done and we were going to put her diaper back on. She would have none of it...she really just wanted to keep sitting there. So I got some books for her and let her read and chill for a while. Then I needed to start getting her bath ready, so I left her for a minute to get some bath stuff, and by the time I got back, she was standing next to her potty, looking at her hands. They were wet...she had gone pee-pee and started playing in it! After I momentarily freaked that she was playing in it, I got all excited and tried to make sure I made a big deal. She was pretty proud of herself. She was naked at the time, since we were getting ready for her bath, but once she was dressed again, we took a couple pictures to remember the moment. You'll see that she's clapping for herself.

Have you missed us?

So it's been what, 2 months since our last post? I'm sure all of you are just dying to know what's been happening with us, right? I know it's been keeping you up at night... OK, I'm sure most of you haven't even really noticed that we haven't posted in a while. This last month has been a little rocky for us, but through the support of family and friends, we are hanging in there, and I figured I should get back to the real world. So here's a sampling of some things that have gone on...

First Cookie!

I know there are always exciting milestones in a baby's life, such as the first time they roll over, or sit up, or their first steps. One of Molly's latest milestones is...she ate her first whole chocolate chip cookie! As some of you may know, Molly has not always been too fond of sugar and sweets...don't ask me where she got that from. It's not that we don't give her plenty of opportunity to try stuff, she just prefers rabbit food, I guess. But the other day we were getting a little restless, so we made some cookies together, and I have never seen her so excited to eat one. After dinner, she ate the whole thing and seemed to actually enjoy it, too. This is a very big step for her, especially when you've seen her take a bite of something sweet and just spit it out. The only thing she didn't seem to like about the cookie was it was pretty messy, and Molly can't stand being dirty...but that's another story for another day.

"Look Mom, I ate the whole thing!"

"Wait a second, my hands are all messy!"

Road Trip

Last week a small group of moms from our ward took our kids to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. I've been wanting to go for a while, and it was great fun. All of the kids seemed to have a great time, and I know Molly was in heaven. I can't wait to get back sometime...we really only saw a few of the attractions there. There are so many more to go see.

One of Molly's favorite things was this little water tray table. She thought it was great fun having all of those toys to play with in the water.

Aren't friends great?

I know I've mentioned Molly's friend Amy before. Amy and her sister Adelynne have come over to play every now and then, and one of Molly and Amy's favorite things to do is get in Molly's crib and just hang out. I think it's pretty hilarious that they choose to spend a lot of their time there, but they have a blast. Since she's started doing this with Amy, Molly on her own will decide she wants play time in her crib. It's something I won't ever quite understand, but who am I to argue?

Dressing up

For Christmas Molly got wonderful collections of dress-up clothes and accessories from both sets of grandparents. She's not too fond of dressing-up all that often, but occasionally I can talk her into getting into an outfit. But when she decides she's in the mood, she'll go all out...then she wants to look in the mirror. The minute she's admired herself, she's done. She insists on taking everything off. So though it usually only lasts minutes at a time, when she is all dressed up, it's pretty cute.

Together again

While in California over Christmas, we were able to get all of the cousins together...this is Molly's generation, not David's. This is the first time all of them were together since the two newest ones were born. We got a picture of all of them with Grammy and Grampy...as you will notice, Molly was not happy about that. We have Seth, Lily, Matthew, and of course, Molly.
