Fun in Seattle

Molly and I just got back on Saturday from a fabulous trip to Seattle. David's brother Jon and his wife Julie invited Molly and me out for a visit. Thinking back, I can't believe everything we did during the week we were there. Here are some of the highlights:

Our first full day there was Easter Sunday. Julie made up some great Easter baskets for the kids, and they also got to hunt for some eggs. Molly thought that was all great fun.

Julie also got Molly a dress that matched her boys' Easter clothes. I think they all looked absolutely adorable...and we received many compliments at church.

On Monday we went to the Children's Museum. Molly had fun in their little Mexican restaurant and pretend grocery store. On Tuesday we went for a bike ride around Green Lake and then we went to Ikea. I have never been inside an Ikea before, and we don't have one close here in Indiana, so I was excited about that. Now I wish we actually did have one close here. On Wednesday we went to the park in the morning, then later visited Julie's Grandma Ruthie. We had fun gardening in her yard, and then eating at Taco Bell. Thursday morning we went to the Zoo. Molly loved the Elephants, the Monkeys, and the farm area.

Thursday afternoon we headed to the beach. This was Molly's first trip to a beach, and I dare say she was in absolute heaven. I mean, how can you not be when you're 2 and being encouraged to dig in sand and water and get as dirty as you want?

Thursday night Julie and I let Jon put the kids to bed, and we headed to the gym for a step aerobics class that Julie's sister Rachel was teaching. Though I was a little overwhelmed with many of the steps, I had a lot of fun. And afterwards, I was almost ready to join a gym!

On Friday, we went to the mall for a little shopping and to visit the play area. Then in the afternoon we went to the Waterfront. I think that was one of my favorite things the whole week. We hit the market and saw all of the little shops selling produce, flowers and sea food. I almost felt like we were in a city in Europe. Julie also got a sampling of pastries that we were to enjoy later that evening...and enjoy them we did! After the Waterfront, we went out to dinner so that I could have some real sea food...because obviously we don't get that much here in Indiana. It was absolutely delicious...and it's probably a good thing we don't get that here, because I would be tempted to go out to dinner even more than I want to now.

So it was a great week, and we had great weather...it only rained the first couple of days we were there. Then we actually saw some sun! It was so much fun watching Molly and her cousin Matthew play together. I'm glad they got some time to get to know one another a little better. When we were actually at home, playing with Matthew's trains was something they liked to do together.

Thanks Jon and Julie for a great trip! Can't wait 'til next time...
