It's Spring!

Happy official spring!  We're so glad the weather is warming up around here, and are even enjoying the rainy day we're having today.  Call me crazy, I don't mind!  We've been able to take advantage of the nice weather recently and get outside for walks and let Molly ride her bike.  We're getting itchy for BBQs with friends and play dates at the park.  These next few months are also going to be busy with family.  But enough of the future, here's some pictures of the last month.

Emma is 4 months old today.  Holy cow, where has the time gone?  I was discussing with David the other day that it seems like the past few months have gone so fast, and yet it feels like Emma has always been a part of our family.  That's how well she fits in, I guess.  Here are her stats from her Dr.'s appointment today:
Height: 25 inches (75%)
Weight: 12 lbs 7 oz (25%)
Emma is a very happy and fun little baby.  She loves her big sister, and is getting interested in toys, though she still can't grab them quite yet.  We do tummy time, and she's rolled over a couple times from front to back, but doesn't really seem too interested in making it happen very often.  I'm totally OK with that.  She is now sleeping in Molly's room in the big crib, and so far so good.  Last night she slept for an 8 hour stretch.  It was wonderful.  She's tried out her Bumbo chair a few times, but she's so tiny she ends up in weird angles, so she's not a big fan yet.  She caught on very quickly to her jumperoo, though, and thought that was pretty cool.
Now that Emma is a little more interactive, Molly has taken more interest in her.  She gives Emma the softest kisses and hugs at bedtime, it's so sweet to watch.  Molly also loves to "keep an eye on Emma" if I have to go to the laundry room real quick.  I love watching those tender moments between the two of them.

The other night I tried something with Molly's hair that my Mom occasionally did with mine.  We did lots of tiny braids after her bath in the evening, then took them out in the morning.  The braids looked pretty cute, but the end result wasn't that great.  I think Molly's hair is just a little too fine and wispy.  I'm excited to try again in a few years, though.
Molly has also recently renewed her obsession with all things vegetable.  We made steamed broccoli for dinner a while ago, and I think she literally ate a pound.  We've also had asparagus, and she couldn't get enough.  Then, we tried some artichokes, which David and I happen to love.  The first time David picked some up, he only got two, thinking there was no way Molly would like it.  But she did, and asked for her very own the next time we got them.  And she ate the whole thing.

Molly finally gets her Frosty...

The Snowman, that is.  Every time it has snowed this winter, Molly has begged to go out and build a snowman.  And every time David has tried with her (it's not really my thing, especially with a brand new baby around) the snow has been uncooperative.  Or maybe we should blame it on David?  He is from California, after all.  No, the snow has been unusually fluffy all winter, so we just haven't been able to get our snowman, until now.  On Wednesday David and Molly headed outside, expecting the same old fluffy snow, but thankfully it was just right for snowman-making.  And Molly looks out of our sliding door all day, just to make sure he's still there.  It's supposed to get up to 60 degrees today...I don't have the heart to tell her he probably won't last much longer.
Working hard together.
At one point Molly got distracted and started raking snow off the bushes.
The end result.  Pretty good for a 3 year old and a Californian, wouldn't you say?
